Big River Distilling Co. releases its first batch of craft gin

Big River Distilling Co. has set a high standard with its first release of craft gin. This artisan spirit is distilled with precision, concentrating flavours and creatively balancing traditional ingredients with Australian botanicals including lemon myrtle and mountain pepperleaf.

Big River Founder and self-styled Chief Beverage Engineer Clyde Morton launched Canberra Dry Ginsaying: “Distilling is an exact science, combining flavours and inspiration. I’ve established Big River Distilling Co to create spirits that reflect the unique Canberra environment. The first batch of gin is aromatic with subtle, complex flavours.”

Clyde sees himself as curious and independent, guided but not bound by tradition: “Canberra Dry Gin will work equally well in a classic G&T or as a base for re-interpreting your favourite cocktail. At the first public tasting patrons enjoyed it in a classic dry Martini and a spicy blush Martini created by the Martini Whisperer, Phillip Jones.”

Customers can purchase online via By Spring the Distillery Door will be open to the public offering tastings, tours and sales.

Located in the makers and creators hub at 1 Dairy Road Fyshwick, Big River has enjoyed settling inalongside Capital Brewing. “It has been exciting to watch the Capital Brewing crowd and beer offerings grow. With Big River opening soon, there will be another reason to venture out to Dairy Road for a weekday catch up with colleagues and friends or on weekends to enjoy the latest new offering in the Canberra foodand beverages scene,” Clyde said.
