A cinfully good new release
Big River’s latest release is Cinn Gin; an enticing apple and cinnamon flavoured gin that is already getting plenty of attention.
“Initially intended as a Christmas-only release, reactions have been so positive that Cinn Gin might soon be available all year round,” said Big River Founder Clyde Morton.
Cinn Gin is a heady mix of subtle apple aromas (Pink Ladies were used in the distillation) and spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and star anise. Bottled at a heady 44% alc/vol it offers a bit of an extra kick and is delicious with either dry ginger ale or ginger beer.
Let’s go shopping: two new places to get your Big River fix
Big River’s first release, our Canberra Dry Gin, continues to do well both at the Distillery Door and stockists throughout Canberra. In the past month the following stores have added this distinctive drop to their shelves:
- Peter’s Wine Shop in Downer (Downer is the spiritual home of Canberra Dry Gin); and
- The Cook Grocer, Cook Shops.

Christmas comments: the verdict on Big River gin
Big River Founder Clyde Morton admits he felt somewhat nervous over the Christmas period. The reason? A number of Distillery Door visitors bought some gin either as a gift or to serve to their Christmas guests.
“My handiwork was on show, as was the premise good things can come out of Canberra!” said Clyde. But it turns out he needn’t have worried. Some reactions captured on social media include:
“I was given a bottle of your gin for Christmas. I’m a bit of a gin lover and holy cow your gin has blown my socks off.”
“Such a great gin!!! All my Christmas guests who tried it loved it!!!”
